| What's going on...
It was lovely to be asked to play two songs with Vladimir Merta for his 65th birthday celebrations. The first date was a live performance for TV, filmed in Prague's inimitable Balbinova Poeticka Hospudka, and then a spot at his CD launch in Akropolis in May. Monika Naceva and I also did a live broadcast for Radio Wave in Karlin, which you can hopefully access here. Just listened to it and it came out nicely. Great sound there and a lovely audience. This year has not been an easy one, and I am looking forward to taking a well-earned break in July and August. Before then I will be playing at Blues Sklep 23/06/11 for United Islands Club Night. I will also be appearing at Michael Kyselka's United Islands Open Mic session on 25/06 and playing two gigs with Monika Naceva in between - one at Mezirici Valasske 24/06 and then the next day at Lysa Nad Labem for their Luftfest. Should be a lot of fun! I have quite a few other gigs here and there in CZ before July 9th (when I go on holiday), so please check the Concerts page for more details. While I'm away I will be working on material and arrangements (yes, there might be some other instruments and musicians!) for my new CD, title as yet unsure. Looking forward to recording it though. Last year was a good year for me and I played a lot of dates all over, including The Beautiful Swamp Blues Festival in Northern France and an appearance before Johnny Winter for the Blues Alive Festival in Sumperk in November. The following day I played at Mirov prison (the Czech Republic's top-security prison) as part of their tradition of inviting one of the Blues Alive acts to play a set for the inmates there. It was a really great experience and I got to meet the prison's house band, "The Mirov Boys", who also played a set, and frankly kicked ass.
